Deparment of Post-harvest technology

The Department of Post-harvest Technology was established in 2010, under the Faculty of Food Technology. The mission of the department is to train high-quality human resources, while promoting scientific research, technology transfer, and international cooperation in the fields of post-harvest technology and food technology. To become department’s lecturers, not only scientific and academic knowledge but also effective pedagogy are emphasized.

 


The lecturers of The Department of Post-harvest Technology

 

Currently, our department is in charge of the main tasks such as:

♦ Building and training a contingent of highly qualified lecturers and scientists to undertake the tasks of teaching, scientific research, technology transfer and international cooperation in the post-harvest field.
♦ Developing and perfecting course contents, compiling textbooks and references related to the field of post-harvest technology.
♦ Studying and innovating teaching methods, organizing tests and evaluating students' learning process and results in accordance with regulations of the Faculty and University.

Also, we are in charge of several subjects of the FST:

♦ Food packaging technology;

♦ Food toxicology;

♦ Food processing technology;

♦ Technology of fruit and vegetable processing;

♦ Technology of processing cocoa tea, coffee;

♦ Processing technology and quality control of tea, coffee, cocoa;

♦ Food processing technology and quality control;

♦ Processing technology and quality control of fruits and vegetables;

♦ Practice food processing technology, tea, coffee, cocoa;

♦ Practice technology of vegetable oil production and fruit and vegetable processing;

♦ Practice processing technology and quality control of food, tea, coffee, cocoa;

♦ Practice production technology and control the quality of vegetable oils and products from vegetables...

Scientific research is also the strength of the Department. Current research of our department includes:

Developing a post-harvest treatment process for Vietnamese vegetables and fruits

 Research on preservation technology of some key fruits for export such as mango, banana, papaya, mangosteen, dragon fruit,....

Research on green technology applied in post-harvest technology to reduce the use of chemicals, irradiation, etc. in post-harvest processing of fruits and vegetables, such as the application of wax coating method, the method of using essential oils , method of disinfection/disinfection by plasma activated water, etc.

Research on heat treatment process of some fruits and vegetables

Research on the production of edible coatings in fruit and vegetable preservation

Developing standards for assessing the ripeness of Vietnamese fruits.

Research on the process of post-harvest handling and preservation of tubers, such as sweet potatoes, tapioca,....

Research on the application of atmospheric correction in preserving vegetables, fruits and nuts.

Research on some advanced packaging types: convenient and environmentally friendly.


    The Department of Post-Harvest Technology has been invested with state-of-the-art equipment according to specific product groups such as: food processing technology - food, rice and paddy; technology for processing tea, coffee, cocoa; technology for processing agricultural products such as vegetables, fruits, etc.
